Upcoming Appointment of Dade County Board of Equalization

In accordance with Georgia laws (O.C.G.A.§ 45-5-311), the Dade County Grand Jury is required to appoint a member and alternate member of the Dade County Board of Equalization each fall during the October term of the Superior Court of Dade County. Notice is hereby given that the Grand Jury for the October 2011 Term of the Superior Court of Dade County, Georgia, which is scheduled to reconvene on Thursday, January 12, 2012 will be required to make the following appointments to the Board of Tax Equalization of Dade County:

Judge Bo Wood, Chief Judge of the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit, recently appointed Ms. Kathy Page, Superior Court Clerk of Dade County, to the Seventh District’s ADR Board.

HB 41 REDUCES NOTARY FEES

Governor Nathan Deal signed into law on March 16, 2011 HB41 reducing the notary application & renewal fee to $37.00. The fee became effective upon his signature.

Trade Name Registration

Georgia law (O.C.G.A. § 10-1-490) requires every “person, firm, or partnership, carrying on in this state any trade or business under any trade name or partnership name or other name” to register the trade name of the business within 30 days from “commencing to do business.

The Dade County Superior Court Clerk’s office is proud to announce that new and renewal notary public applications are now filled out online. In an effort to provide ease and convenience, Dade County Superior Court Clerk’s office, in conjunction with the Georgia Superior Court Clerks’ Cooperative Authority, has developed an online notary public application process.

CLERK OF SUPERIOR COURT

The Clerk of Superior Court is an elected position serving the Superior and Juvenile Courts in Dade County. The Clerk is the custodian over the land and property records as well as the civil and criminal records in the courts served.

Dade County Superior Court Clerk Kathy Page was recently elected chairperson of the District 7 Superior Court Clerks’ Association and installed as a member of the Superior Court Clerks’ Association of Georgia’s board of directors.

I am very excited about our new Jury Management Program. I want to make the juror process go as smoothly as possible for our citizens serving as jurors. Sometimes the court cases will be settled on the Friday before trials or right before the scheduled time for trials to begin.

This website has many useful purposes. Our goal is to keep everyone updated on the status of the Clerk's office. Other features available on the website are the court calendars and the Jury list. Also, before each court term the prospective jurors will be able to visit the website for final reporting instructions before the morning of each court session. Each week you can also look for a feature article on something of interest in the Clerk's office. The vendor I am using for the website is TerraVision, Inc. of Athens, GA.
